Inside Look: Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis

Well, the highly anticipated No Strings Attached, err, i mean Friends with Benefits arrives this Friday. Young, up-and-coming stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis co-star in this conventional looking rom-com. Mila got her big break on the mildly funny "That '70s Show" all the way back in 1998. That in turn led to vocal work on "Family Guy" and "Robot Chicken," but she finally broke through in 2008's Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Timberlake however, as you all know, got his start in the music industry. Some people out there liked his music well enough, albeit not me. In 2006 he made the transition to acting. Was that a good choice? Probably not, but he does have one very good performance worth noting. In this segment we will break down their best five performances, so let's get to it.

Mila Kunis:
5. Date Night (2010) -- She had a small role, opposite James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours), in this above average comedy. Kunis and Franco liven up the film with one tiny scene in which they dominate and provide much needed laughter. I do wish they both had bigger parts.

4. The Book of Eli (2010) -- While she's not the best part of this incredible apocalyptic fantasy film, she certainly plays her part well. At first she seems out of place, but over time Kunis shows her range as an actress.

3. Extract (2009) -- This is an underrated film filled with great performances by Kunis, Ben Affleck (State of Play, The Town) and Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses, The Switch). Kunis plays a con-artist who takes advantage of Bateman's character thanks to her charm and good looks. This is a film worth taking a peak at.

2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) -- This was definitely her breakout film. Mila and Jason Segel (Knocked Up, Bad Teacher) make fantastic duo. Kunis' Rachel Jansen is one of the more likable female characters in the last ten years, without a doubt.

1. Black Swan (2010) -- 2010 was a big year for Kunis, and Black Swan was her shining moment. A lot of people were surprised to find out she wasn't up for an Oscar. She certainly deserved a nomination, but she was up against some tough competition. She's absolutely alluring and deceitful. Fantastic film.

Justin Timberlake:
5. The Love Guru (2008) -- There are only a handful of films to choose from, so this dud made the list. He's only mildly funny as Jacques Grande, the well-hung ladies man with a stupid accent. Are there laughs to be had during this blatantly bad film? Sure, but it's not worth any ones time.

4. Southland Tales (2006) -- Here's another odd performance for JT. He plays a scar-faced pilot who narrates much of the film. He does have one memorable scene in the film though, but that's only because of The Killers amazing "All These Things That I've Done." This is a cluttered and disappointing sophomore effort from Donnie Darko writer/director Richard Kelly.

3. Alpha Dog (2006) -- Timberlake turned some heads thanks to his semi-large role in this adequate little thriller. There are some decent performances from everyone involved, but this film just falls flat as a whole. However, Timberlake is better than normal here.

2. Black Snake Moan (2006) -- Justin has a small role in this exquisite film starring Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Rules of Engagement) and Christina Ricci (After.Life, Sleepy Hollow). He plays Ricci's abusive fiance and is actually quite effective considering.

1. The Social Network (2010) -- Timberlake turned in one of the better supporting performances of the year in 2010's The Social Network. His portrayal of the cocky and confused Sean Parker was nothing short of fantastic. Who knew he had such range? Only time will tell whether or not he can move onto bigger and better roles, but he's definitely not going anywhere anytime soon.
