Top 100 Actors

60. Gael Garcia Bernal
One of the best Spanish actors out there. But the kicker is he can speak fluid English. He steals every scene he's in.
-The Science of Sleep
-Amores Perros
-Y tu mamá también

59. Casey Affleck
Well, we have our first Affleck. Casey has really come into his own in the past five years. He's terrific in The Assassination of Jesse James, opposite Brad Pitt.
-The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
-The Killer Inside Me
-Gone Baby Gone

58. Cillian Murphy
He has great relationships with directors Christopher Nolan and Danny Boyle. Two of the best directors alive know what Murphy is capable of.
-28 Days Later...
-Sunshine
-Batman Begins

57. Tobey Maguire
His defining role was in 2009's chilling film Brothers. The Spider-Man films launched his dying career. Now that those films are long gone, I'm eager to see what he latches onto next.
-Brothers
-Spider-Man
-Spider-Man 2

56. Mel Gibson
Gibson hadn't appeared in a film in five years, and all of a sudden BANG! He's back with a vengeance. It was a treat to see him back on the big screen again this year in Edge of Darkness.
-Braveheart
-Edge of Darkness
-Conspiracy Theory

55. Ben Affleck
Ben has not only rejuvenated his acting career in the last two years, his directed films are phenomenal. I'm not exactly sure what JLo was doing to him (I can only imagine), but she was obviously holding him down.
-The Town
-Extract
-State of Play

54. Vince Vaughn
My goodness, what has happened to Minneapolis native Vincent Vaughn over the past few years? Couples Retreat? Four Christmases? Fred Claus? Ouchtown, population you, bro! After one of the greatest stretches in comedy history between 2003-2006 (Old School, Starsky & Hutch, Dodgeball, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, The Break-Up), Vaughn has gotten soft on us. Let's just hope The Dilemma (his upcoming 2011 film) doesn't choke.
-Wedding Crashers
-The Break-Up
-Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

53. Russell Crowe
Mr. Crowe may not be as hilarious as Trey Parker and Matt Stone (creators of South Park) make him out to be, but he's one hell of an actor. I don't quite get why everyone was spilling their clue goo over Gladiator, but Crowe was great in it.
-3:10 to Yuma
-American Gangster
-Gladiator

52. Robert De Niro
Although the last decade wasn't his best, Bob is one of the best ever. And he doesn't seem to be slowing down either. He's been spitting out one or two movies every year. Keep giving 'er Bobby!
-Taxi Driver
-Heat
-Meet the Parents

51. Tom Hanks
Tom would most definitely be higher but the last eight years have been brutal. The Dan Brown books/films are not only insanely bad, but they apparently have taken Mr. Hanks' career to a new low. Please stop! I mean the guy had an epic 90's (Gump, Private Ryan, Apollo 13, Philadelphia, and 2000's Cast Away)
-Forrest Gump
-Saving Private Ryan
-Cast Away

50. Jeremy Renner
The new kid on the block has made quite an impression on everyone. He burst onto the scene in 2007's 28 Weeks Later, which I believe led to his Oscar-nominated role in the Oscar-winning Best Picture The Hurt Locker.
-The Hurt Locker
-28 Weeks Later
-The Town

49. Benicio Del Toro
Benicio often plays rugged and weathered characters. He really started to come into his own in the late 90's, and for me he's never been better than his role in Alejandro González Iñárritu's 21 Grams. He plays an ex-convict who finds God, but his faith is put to the test when he accidentally runs over a child.
-21 Grams
-Traffic
-The Hunted

48. Seann William Scott
One of the funniest men in Hollywood. A native of Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He burst onto the scene in the classic coming-of-age comedy American Pie. Some of his funniest work can be seen in his small exotic roles in films like Old School and Jay and Silent Bob.
-Old School
-Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
-American Pie

47. Owen Wilson
Owen has bounced back well from his nervous breakdown in 2007. A lot of his best work has been in Wes Anderson films, especially The Darjeeling Limited. That's a film people need to seek out.
-The Darjeeling Limited
-Zoolander
-Starsky & Hutch

46. Bill Murray
What a comedic career Mr. Murray has put together. His work on SNL got him roles in the instant classics Caddyshack and Stripes. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He's had a couple hilarious cameos in the last couple of years. Most recently Get Smart, and of course his hysterical fake zombie role in Zombieland.
-Kingpin
-What About Bob?
-Caddyshack

45. Daniel Craig
The new James Bond is more than just 007. He's been cast as Mikael Blomkvist in David Fincher's remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Let's just say I'm excited about the upcoming trilogy. He's also teaming up with Harrison Ford in 2011's highly anticipated Cowboys & Aliens.
-Casino Royale
-Enduring Love
-The Jacket

44. Paul Rudd
Some of Paul's best work has been with writer/director/producer Judd Apatow. 2007-2009 has been a fantastic stretch for Rudd. "PANDA WATCH!"
-Forgetting Sarah Marshall
-The 40-Year-Old Virgin
-Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

43. Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill has so many sides to him. Whether he's a ghost (Walk Hard), a thong wearing druggie (Strange Wilderness) or an opinionated receptionist (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), he always funny. He has a lot of great years ahead of him.
-Superbad
-Forgetting Sarah Marshall
-Get Him to the Greek

42. Harrison Ford
Indiana Jones and Han Solo may not be quite what he used to be, but at least he's still acting. Oh my, how time has past.
-Raiders of the Lost Ark
-Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
-The Fugitive

41. Al Pacino
Pacino is always interesting and he's not slowing down. The Godfather wouldn't be what it is today without him. He owned the 70's and really bounced back in the 90's.
-The Godfather
-Insomnia
-Heat

  1. Al Pacino...no scarface? Blasphemy!

  2. What did you think of "Defiance" starring Danial Craig? I thought he killed it in that film...this would be hard to narrow it down to just 3 films for some of these actors.

  3. I've never actually finished Scarface. True story.

I saw Defiance in theaters and didn't like it. The editing was really bad. It was too long. The ending was way over-the-top. But Daniel Craig was good as usual. The acting wasn't the problem for me.

Yeah it was difficult to narrow them down. So I tried not to think too much and just pick three really good performances.

  4. Never finished it, huh? The ending was quite a treat in my opinion...everything ends with one big bang! Pretty exciting stuff.
